On behalf of Climate Policy & Strategy, YouGov Blue conducted the June 2024 US Climate Tracker survey, including 2,015 US voters from June 14-18, 2024. Respondents were weighted based on various demographic and voting behavior factors, ensuring a representative sample.
Key findings reveal that while a growing big intense majority of US voters view climate change as a serious threat needing major action, inflation and the cost of living, and the border dominate their concerns. And Trump leads on those of these issues, and those provide his strongest attacks on Biden.
Yet, every part of the Biden agenda and Inflation Reduction Act provides Biden with chances to talk about ways he has and will lower their costs.
But Biden can go on the offensive.
While voters think government spending is important to why we have high prices, many more cite companies charging excessive prices and corporate greed. That is why the oil executives promising Trump a billion dollars to write his energy and environmental policies is such an opportunity.
We tested Biden’s main message in the campaign. It is not supported by a majority. But a Biden message that has him helping the hardworking middle class and incorporates the attack on oil companies and corporate greed is as strong as Trump main message. They can shift votes.
