Democrats Must not Draw the Wrong Lessons from Labour’s Defeat

Our founder Stan Greenberg wrote an op-ed in the Financial Times urging Democrats not to learn the wrong lessons from Labour’s collapse in the age of Brexit. Donald Trump, unlike Boris Johnson, has lost much of his support among white working class women who once favored him by 27 points.

Also, as Trump continues to make immigration his number one issue, nearly two-thirds of survey respondents offer a warm reaction to the phrase: “immigrants to the US”. As the American electorate becomes younger and more diverse, their priorities are shifting, and any “moderate” political commentator pointing at the UK and urging Democrats to find a moderate middle-ground are missing the point entirely.
